And we are off …

With 33 people in attendance at the inaugural general meeting of the Bradwell CLT, all 33 joined as members and elected an initial board of:

  • Chair: Andy Nash
  • Vice Chair: Tim Sheppard
  • Secretary: Andy Johnston
  • Minutes Secretary: Paul Downing
  • Treasurer: Nick McCloud
  • Membership: Katrina Lancaster
  • Member: Peter Higgs
  • Member: Alison Johnston

We are in the process of setup, further membership recruitment and engagement with the potential developers of the Newburgh site.

  1. Hi there,

This is a bit of a long shot, but I am a Canadian housing planner and I’m about to be in the UK for 3 weeks with my family. I am really interested in the Community Land Trust model for housing that seems to be getting going across Britain.

We are a few years behind in Western Canada (I live in British Columbia) in setting up land trusts, with interest just starting to grow in this different model of housing. I have recently started a non-profit housing society that is working at the land trust model, but I also have a consulting practice supporting small communities in developing their own housing solutions, and land trusts are starting to be recognized as a model with a lot of potential.

I will be in the Peak District (mostly Buxton, but also a night in Castleton), with my family from August 19-24th, and if it’s possible would love to meet one of your board members for a tea, coffee, or pint, either in Bradwell or in Buxton/Castleton.

Please let me know if one of your board might be available for an informal chat.
